An Adventure Filled 1st Of May.

Never a dull day it seems.

My Mum and I went for a walk yesterday. Our family always used to gather for a nice long walk on each May 1st followed by a nice lunch somewhere. We decided to walk for a while and then have Albert pick us up in the car to drive the rest of the way.
We took the road behind our village, and were rewarded with Nature's beauty. On the right is Hungary and on the left the Eisenberg hills & village. I can't get enough of the vivid colour scheme of Südburgenland.
The Pinka river serves as a natural border between Austria and Hungary. The beautiful yellow rape fields are in Hungary. Simply fab.
Nice, isn't it?
Standing in Hungary a step across from Austria.
After our walk, we went to have a treat at the ice cream coffee shop ( dare I say they know us by name! ). Albert ordered two scoops of ice cream and by mistake ordered the kiddies portion. You should have seen his face when they brought the bear - cup! Never mind the waitress having a giggle...
In the late afternoon we went to the May tree affair. The youth club of our village hosted it & hoisted the tree.
The street became the scene of a good time. All the while we were watching the boys raise the tree. Rather daunting for them!
How many strong men does it take to lift the May tree?
Interesting to watch how they inched it upwards. Hammers and chainsaws were involved.
Almost perfect. They were chopping about to make it fit and I sat down thinking to take another picture later...like all good intentions, I forgot!
